What side of the bed do you wake up on?
As they days seem shorter, feel colder and nature shows us hibernation mode it can often be difficult to get out of that warm, comfy bed.
As much as I would like to hit the snooze button-ten more times, I have obligations to fill and places to go. It always seems a little more challenging during the winter months to get moving.
You know that old saying that indicates one got our of the wrong side of the bed? It can happen to any one of us-any morning, right?
I have learned that if I want to have a great day-I need to focus on having a great start to my day. In other words I am in charge of my own attitude-no one else can take that responsibility. I own it.
So I have introduced some techniques into my daily “waking” process that seem to work well In ensuring I start my day off-getting our of the right side of the bed!
When I am just awaking and the sand has not yet left my eyes, i take a few deep cleansing breaths as to alert the rest of my body that “it’s time” and give my body the time to respond.
I then may repeat some affirmations that I need or that can start my day off to a good start. These sometimes change and I do have a mini list of them by my bed-for those days I need more guides inspiration.
They can be anything from “I love and approve of myself” to “today is going to be an amazing day” to “I am now living in the moment and enjoying all today has to offer”
Anything...get creative and find what feels right for you!
Then I reach to my “wake me up Oils” currently my selection is peppermint and lemon. I love citrus essential oils for their refreshing and invigorating scent and peppermint is one of those oils that will work in the way your body needs it too. It is a great pick me up oil but can also create an environment of focus.
This is then a great time for morning pages or journaling. I like to write down thoughts, feelings and even dreams that may be in my head.
After I’m up out of bed-gentle stretching or yoga for my physical self followed by glass of water and shot of Ningxia Red for immune support.
Now I am ready to begin my day-my attitude is in check, my head is clear and body ready to handle the day!
What is your morning routine?
Peace, harmony & essential oils,
Beth
